A critical blow to Russia's energy lifeline has been dealt by Ukraine, with a series of drone strikes targeting the Novorossiysk oil terminal on the Black Sea. This strategic move has set the depot ablaze, causing significant disruption to Russia's oil exports.
The Russian media outlet, Astra, reported that Ukrainian drones struck the Transneft Sheskharis loading terminal, located on the eastern side of the bay. This terminal is a key player in Russia's oil export operations, serving as a vital hub for a substantial portion of the country's Black Sea oil exports.
But here's where it gets controversial: this isn't the first time the Sheskharis terminal has been attacked. Last November, it was hit alongside Russian energy infrastructure at nearby Tuapse and Temryuk ports. And this is the part most people miss - the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal, which operates Kazakhstan's vast oilfields, is also in close proximity, making it a potential target for future attacks.

Loadings of Russian grades Urals and Siberian Light, as well as Kazakhstan Export Blend Crude Oil (KEBCO), have been delayed by weeks, causing a significant dent in Russia's energy revenue.
The port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended oil exports in mid-November following a major Ukrainian attack. And at the end of the same month, the CPC terminal was hit by another attack, further disrupting the flow of oil.
Since the second half of 2025, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russia's oil infrastructure, including refineries, depots, and export terminals.
